ARCTIC BAZAAR

12-18 December 2016, Art Hostel, Leeds

Arctic Bazaar was a Scandinavian-inspired winter world appearing at the Art Hostel, Leeds, from 12-18 December 2016. The space featured work for sale by independent artists and a hot chocolate bar with warming spices, Nordic flavours, Glögi, and sweet bites to eat. Visitors were invited to take respite from the commercial throes of the season, and to enjoy a hot drink in the arctic atmosphere with arctic themed music and soundscapes composed and produced by myself (Jorgie), Hesperis and J Matthews.  The week was  punctuated by special events such as gingerbread workshops, talks, and sound and visual installations inspired by the Arctic.

The event was an opportunity to immerse people in Nordic flavours and to take a moment to reconnect to the true sentiments of the Christmas season, such as the Swedish art of Fika and the Danish concept of Hygge.

We had three weeks to create write and record some arctic-esque sounds for the event and this is what we came up with! I hope you enjoy it x
