Jorgie (Georgie Ward) is a 22 year old English music artist, from North Yorkshire. 

She began her musical journey at the age of 6. During her early childhood whilst growing up, Georgie began to take a large interest in performing and composing music. She began learning how to play the piano and the flute at a very young age and at that point she knew that music was something she wanted to persue, going on to perform in venues across North Yorkshire and Paris.

 

Having attended her first dance music festival at the age of 16, her musical inclinations shifted to those of electronic dance music and began learning how to produce. It was from there that her passion for composing music began to flourish, from composing for the moving image to producing electronic music. 

 

Intrigued by electronic music for the dance floor across an array of genres and the human quality and richness of film music, Jorgie combines roots of downtempo, trip hop, experimental and electronic music; moving far beyond the confines of that often-formulaic genre. Jorgie combines her influences into a rare and organic array of music aiming to take the listener into a unique voyage of melodic, ambient and often dark, electronic music. 

 

Jorgie takes huge influences from successful artists such as Björk, Massive Attack, Gorillaz, Portishead, Jon Hopkins, Nightmares On Wax, Bonobo, and Max Richter.

“With my music, I want to create something for every day of the week, not just music that you would only hear in a club on a Friday or Saturday night. Something a bit more deep and meaningful. I want to bring out an album that people want to listen to from start to finish, taking the listener through some sort of deep and meaningful journey, as to me, that is what music is about; something that creates emotion. I love it when you get that funny feeling in your stomach.”
